I have an opportunity to go to Vlora for dinner and was wondering what others think? Do they serve wine/beer? Thanks in advance. Also, any opinions on Z-Square in Kenmore Square for dinner?

Vlora has interesting and good food. It is a bit of a scene. Yes, wine and beer. And a nice space.

Regarding Vlora: beer/wine/cordials only. I like the food a lot, though it's on the simple Mediterranean side, Albanian and Greek and Italian, with the Italian dishes being the weakest. I love the atmosphere, which on weekends looks like it dropped in on the Back Bay from Mars, or a disco in Tirana, at least.

I LOVE Vlora. I am a huge fan of their seafood dishes, but in particular, the scallops.

Is it too late to reply to this? A 'hound and I recently hit up Vlora for dinner. Yes, they do serve wine & beer.

Fork-tender octopus: lovely grilled octopus that defied all logic and was tasty and not too chewy.
Albanian tava: baked vegetables with cheese on top. Who cares?
Tursi (pickled & stuffed eggplant): I liked the pickling, but this needed something else in the stuffing.
Trio of Pies (spinach and feta, tomato and onion, yogurt): the yogurt was the most successful of the three, but who cares, it was the tzitziki on the plate that was the real star of the night. They should sell that stuff by the tub.
Baked Goat Cheese polenta: completely flavorless.

Maybe we just ordered all the wrong dishes, but I was completely underwhelmed. A couple entrees went by that looked nice, but I'm not sure I'd return anytime soon.

That said, the space is absolutely adorable and I can see how it would be fun after dinner.

Short list: fork tender octopus is as advertised; contra Gini, I love the Albanian tava; burger has some of the finest french fries in town
