Sub buns, brands?

I can't seem to find any good sub buns to recreate the subs from either Subway, Quiznos, or even the Safeway Lumberjack sub! I can only seemingly find Villaggio Buns, which I don't really like. Anyone have any recommendations to recreate those Subway subs?

Maybe I am not adding enough sauce into the mix or cheese, but starting off with a good sub bun would be nice! Anyone care to share their favorite bun brand?

I get them from a local Italian bakery or a local Jewish bakery where they place them in a paper bag when you buy them. Also those buns are even better than the buns you get at Subway etc and not putting them in plastic insures they stay crispy.

I think the answer to your question really depends on what area of the country you're in because not all brands are distributed nationally. Here in the Northeast.... Boston.... I buy the rolls for sub sandwiches at an Italian bakery baked in house. Other than that the only "brand" we would buy otherwise is Pantedosi. But I think even they are local.
