Recommendations for Steak and Frites in Vancouver?
Hi Vancouver Chowhounders.
Any recommendations for Steak and Frites,
I have tried Jules, Smoking Dog and Les Faux Bourgeois. and plan to try Pied a terre and Salad de Fruits. Any other places with steak and frites for under 30 dollars?
Thanks in advance.

Ok, a little late but here are the results. I managed to try out five spots for steak and fries in November and then I managed to try Jules in December. Here are the places that I visited.
Save on Meats - purchased the steak in the front and had it grilled in the back. It was a fun experience but the chef didn't know how to grill a steak that thick and it was very rare.
Stella - A good deal for 13 dollars but I would pick something else off their menu instead. I like their burgers.
Jules - wasnt a fan but I remember loving it 3 years ago.
Smoking Dog - i enjoyed the gravy.
Les Faux Bourgeois - for 16 bucks, its a great deal. Good taste and good price.
Pied A Terre - The best. Also the most expensive but I loved everything about the meal, Staff, atmosphere, food. Highly recommend a visit.I put pictures on http://www.vancouverslop.com for those who would like more details.

How about Mistral Bistro? They have steak frites sometimes. Maybe Bistrot Bistro, too. If you're ever in Victoria, try Brasserie L'Ecole. Yum!

re: im_hungry
of the ones I have been to, I would say Jules wins. What at deal at les Faux for 16 dollars and cheap wine but the beef could of been better quality but for 16 dollars, great deal.
I am going to do some research of the ones listed (Stella and Pat). I m going to try and do 4 -5 spots for steak and fries this month to find the best.

re: tom_edo
I was at Chambar for a bit tonight. They had a $29 Steak Bourguignon with frites - red wine mushroom sauce. I didn't have it, but it was apparently good. Chambar's food is generally excellent. I took a pic of it for you, but it somehow turned out too blurry to post. I always have problems taking pics there - it's so dark. So instead, I'll post a pic of one of the drinks I had tonight ;-) - a fig-infusion martini with a side of blue cheese.
Les Faux's Steak Frites sounds a a great deal. I'll have to check that out. Stella's is currently at $14 (it was $12 for quite some time) - I always ask for extra bernaise which they suppy gratis.

re: vandan
had the steak frites at La Brasserie last weekend and totally loved it. Best one i've had in a while. the steak was tender and juicy and the fries were greaseless, crispy and perfectly seasoned. think it was like $18. Sat at the bar facing the kitchen and got to chat with the chefs as well which made for a very pleasant evening.
