Did one week with Gordon really make a difference with this owner? Is it still open I wonder? Watching the show now, I think this owner, Sammy, really needs someone to give him a "come to jesus" talk and Gordon is the best person to do that.

When I was watching the episode last night, the first thought that came to my mind was this guy Sammy was possibly worse than the wannabe Peter from Long Island last season. Watching how the kitchen produced meals made me question if I could ever eat from a Pizzeria again...Sammy's original experience and training in the food business.
However, by the end of the show, the transformation of Sammy was surprising to me...and I thought it was a positive ending. What I did find amazing during the course of the episode were these observations.
1. The first kitchen where there were no sanitary issues and actually described as spotless and immaculate.
2. Jose, the chef makes excuses and pushes the blame to the owner...this guy clearly has lost his ability for production....he cooks with fear and his skills are questionable. My opinion is he got too comfortable becoming a reheat chef....as evidence of his inability to cook any steak to temperature correctly.
3. Lauren, the girlfriend and hostess, is an Angel for Sammy and under-appreciated. Her patience is remarkable.

LOL. When we heard that, Mr OCAnn & I looked at each other and said, "fumigating?"

This is the first episode of KN that I've seen. It was hilariously over-blown, and I certainly would rather not eat at Sabatiello after seeing it. MICROWAVING LAMB?!

So what are you, some kind of microwave expert???!!!

That was when jfood would have smiled, thanked Numnuts, stood and walked out and went to one of 6 other restaurants within 100 yards down the street.

She looked like a deer in the headlights. It was pretty stunning behavior out of that dope! I'd like to think I'd do what you'd do except I'm not sure I could muster the smile. Unless it was one of those wonderful times when the ridiculousness of a bad situation strikes the funny bone.
I was cracking up incredulously at home. What an episode. :)

I loved all the customers clapping when they brought out her food. I can't imagine spending my hard earned money to go out to eat, and then a rude owner talking to me that way.
Great episode.

So is it still an Italian steakhouse?

Well it has aired, Sammy came off as an idiot reincarnated. The kitchen staffed seemed to have come around but it was unclear. But the one person jfood felt so sorry for was his girlfriend. She seemed the odd man out, taking all the heat and was the only positive in the show. What is she doing with this thug is beyond jfood.
jfood's favorite character of the night was the "lamb lady". When she said "I'm done" it reminded jfood of the numerous times when he has done likewise..."please bring the check" normally follows.

Well here's their website: http://www.sabatiellos.com/index.html
Menu looks nice and not too overloaded. At the beginning, I too didn't really care for Sammy, but midway through the show, when Sammy opened up to Gordon, is when we warmed up to Sammy. We hope the reinvented restaurant is successful.
EDIT: Here's the local (Tristate Region) chatter on Sabatiellos: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/569798 -- Recent unimpressive visit to Sabatiello's - Stamford

jfood understands they showed the episode at the restaurant while aired.

I only saw the beginning - before Sammy's transformation... No way will I ever go to his restaurant.
Maybe some things about him can change, but I am willing to bet that his ability to serve crap food when times are tough is not one of them.
And hey, just maybe that lady was a microwave expert...
Sheesh...

Well, Sabatiello's is closed. You can find Sammy at a pizzeria in Greenwich..

Well maybe Sammy was just more comfortable doing pizzas.I hope his new business goes well.
By the way, I missed KN during the holidays, is it coming back or what?
maybe I just forgot to watch it.
