Old Vine Cafe

  • 7

On Sat. night, my wife and I were were invited to dinner by some good friends and fellow foodies, who suggested the Old Vine Cafe in Costa Mesa. In a year in which we ate very well, this was one of the best experiences we had. Its boasts a mid-priced tasting menu with wine pairings in an unpretentious atmosphere and a very knowledgable and friendly som. Its likely to become one of our regular haunts, and based on this one visit (which I hope was typical) can't recommend it enough.

  1. I agree. We ate well, we drank well and we were very comfortable there.

    1. I love this place also. The owners make it a truly intimate experience. All I can say: GO!

      1. And they have a great, affordable wine list. You can also buy the bottles retail there, and the pairings they pour with the tasting menus are also interesting and delicious.

        1. Do they provide any particular kind of foodstuff?

I'm not sure if I understand your question or not but, they lean towards Italian with fresh high quality ingrediants.

          2. It just goes to show you that eating well does not have to go hand-in-hand with dropping a lot of bank notes.

My wife and I have been back to Old Vine twice since I made my original post, and each time it has exceeded our ever-increasing expectations. This is a truly special place, and I suspect that it is going to be my favorite OC restaurant ever. It has one last test for me: the next seasonal tasting menu. Can't wait.
