[DFW] Bummer- One fewer Chicago-style pizza place?

Just went to Little Joe's Famous Chicago Pizza. Been there several times before, and the only problem I've ever had is their inability to get my order right on the first time (a big deal, given a 40-minute bake time).

Anyhow, we went Sunday night, ordered deep dish, got there.... and it's not Chicago pizza anymore. If I had to guess, I'd say it was a beer crust, thick-crust pizza. From what I gathered, they got a new owner about 3 months ago and he's changed several things, not least of which is the pizza. It sounds like they still have the same cook who wants to make Chicago-style pizza, so you might still be able to get one - but you'll have to specify that.

So, if you're in the area (Grapevine/Keller) and are craving Chicago-style pizza, I would suggest calling and asking if they're making Chicago pizza or not. If they are, then that means the cooks have prevailed. I hope they do, since the pizza used to be really good.

  1. I have been there a few times for the thin crust. Has that changed - do you know? The thin crust rocked.

      I didn't try it, so I don't know. It depends what kind of dough they were using originally. I would call and check.
