We dined at Ambassador with friends over the weekend and had a great meal. The dining room itself is beautiful- completely candle lit, fireplace going and open-walls to the garden where the fountain trickles nearby.
The food was fantastic- we started with Naan, and then I had chana, hubby had saag and friends has a lamb-rice dish. There were a few service missteps of the evening- I ordered a salad which came after the entrees arrived (I rejected it) and entrees were not well presented (a denim-clad wait staff with poor communication skills did not identify appropriate dishes and placed wrong items in front of us). At the end of the meal, the waiter came by and clumsily asked if we needed anything else- as we got up to leave it was clear that he wanted to free the table for other waiting patrons.
While I consider the dishes on the expensive side ($17 for chana masala?) and the service to be lacking finesse, I still think of Ambassador as a special place for dinner. Their wine list is decent and the surroundings breathtaking. A definite thumbs up for Ambassador!
