Buca De Beppo--I love their pizza...shoot me

ok...I admit it. I love their pizza margerita. I love their pepperoni with pepperocini...it tastes like the pizza I had in Rome. Ok...let me have it. Or are any chowhounds with me on this?

  1. I agree & have stated so in past threads. They have really good thin crust pizzas. If you like theirs, then you may also like pizzas @ Taps Seafood & Market City Caffe; those run similar.

Thank you....I will give them a try!

    2. It's been a while but ok, I'll admit it too! Although, I've never had it with pepperocini. I love going to MA with my hubby and getting pizza with roasted peppers though so I will try it your way next time. Also, because of BDB, I learned to make their chicken saltimbocca!

      1. I love Buca De Beppo, but it's a place where you need to bring half a dozen friends with you. If you go alone, you take home enough extra food for a least a week. It's all good :-)

They have smaller (for two) and mio (for one) portions now.

When did that start? Are the "mio" dishes the same as the family-style ones? Since I normally dine alone I have always avoided them.

They've at least done it for all of 2008. A good percentage of the menu has mio portions, but not all of it. There is no mio pizza.

        2. I'll agree with you here, especially on the margherita (the only one I've had). The rest of the food...better than Olive Garden, but certainly unremarkable. But the pizza...yeah, it really does taste Italian (surprisingly, Rome was the only city in Italy in which I could not find a single pizza, but that was 25 years ago, and I was 13 years old, and maybe my folks just did a good job of hiding it from me...as we had pizza almost every other day in every other city in Italy).

          1. The pizza margerita at Buca is quite good. I'll pass on the giant entrees there, but the pizza will do me well each time.

            1. I could probably get this as a carryout...thanks for the tip!

If you sign up on their website, they periodically send $10 off $30 coupons which are great for a large pizza & a side.

I'll agree with the margherita pizza. It's a pretty decent pizza. I use the margherita as my baseline for pizzas. It is what I'll order at any place I'm at for the first time.
Last winter, when I was laid up with a broken leg, my ex-hubby would drop by once a week with a whole pizza and one of the large antipasto salads for me. The salad was huge. It's iceberg, but with the cheeses, tomatoes, onions, and whatever else was on there, it actually made for a tasty meal for dinner and next day's lunch. I just didn't like the dressing, so I used my own. The pizza, well, I would try real hard to dole it out slowly to make it last a couple of days. It's good cold for breakfast, too.
