Food Network (Canada) : The Wild Chef
The first time I watched The Wild Chef, I wasn't really sure what I was seeing. I had to rub my eyes and wonder if I was dreaming. After all, Food Network often seems to be the Restaurant Makeover network at times. But I wasn't dreaming, no. I was just watching a show about two Québécois chefs whacking the bush, giving respect to flora and fauna along the way.
Last evening, while enjoying a deserved night in I watched Martin and Hugue forage for mushrooms and do wonderful things to a moose as thanks to the hunters who shot it. They were not at all shy about serving and eating its testicles, or its heart graciously.

Watching this show makes me miss all the fine food in Montreal. It is in Montreal that I discovered good food. I wish we had a Marché 440 (Laval) here in Toronto. There is nothing like going in September early in the morning when the air is crisp and purchasing fresh vegetables from the farmers. O, to be in Montreal again.

I too enjoyed this show. I’ve programmed my PVR to record the shows; it’s the best thing on Food Network (Canada) in a long while. Though I’m unsure if I would eat the heart or testicles of a moose, though I do understand and agree why the ate the testicles and heart. Good show I look forward to more.
