Hey, Hounders! Just wondering if anyone else from the Mpls. area is traveling to the Caymans for Eric Ripert's Food and Wine weekend in January? I'm planning on attending, and I'm wondering if anyone can tell me more about the Caymans, such as where the locals hang out for great food, any great dive bars, and, of course, any can't-miss food shacks off the beaten path, etc. Would love any insight anyone may have--thanks so much in advance...C.

Its been a long time since we were there, but Coritas Copper Kettle was a place that served a local lunch crowd. We were the only tourists in there but I think that the word has spread as evidenced by a recent nytimes food review.

My wife and I spent our honeymoon in Grand Cayman just over a month ago, and we can't wait to go back! Check out Copper Falls. It's fairly close to the Ritz-Carlton, and it's widely considered by locals to be one of the best restaurants on the island. Another place that I'd strongly recommend is the Lobster Pot. Excellent seafood and service! Both of these restaurants are lovely establishments, but if you're looking for a casual place to have lunch, check out Fidel Murphy's. It's a traditional Irish pub that serves fantastic food and has a wide variety of great beer on tap. The mahi-mahi sandwich is a must. Hope this helps, and have fun on your adventures in Grand Cayman!
