Help! Matsuhisa or the new Nobu

Looking to possibly go to one of these restaurants for a birthday dinner. We've been to Matsuhisa before in Beverly Hills and really enjoyed. Now with Nobu in the picture, just wondering your thoughts of which one to go to. Thanks for the help.

The LA Nobu is not only a disgrace to Matsuhisa, but a disgrace to the Nobu chain itself. Weird decor, pushy waiters who practically FORCE you to order more than your table could ever hope to eat, and over-sauced production line sushi dishes that are all but an insult to a even a part-time connoisseur (go to Nobu if you don't like to actually taste the fish).

Personally. and what else is this if not personal, Matsuhisa hands down.

Nobu is more of a scene. The food is better at the original Matsuhisa.

Thanks J. L. What I guess I want to know is, how does the food differ, if at all. I sort of figured that Nobu would be a "scene". I'm really just wanting the best meal.

I note that there is less "love" in the food at Nobu, for lack of a better term. And yes, I've been to Nobu before (dragged there twice). I am also a semi-regular at Matsuhisa (>45 times).

Bottom line: Nobu is not even in the same picture as Matsuhisa.
