North Baja Fresh Seafood at Popotla
Catch of the day? Not here it’s more like catch of the hour.
This place reminds me of what Puerto Nuevo used to be before it went mainstream. Located just minutes south of Rosarito next to Fox Studios lies the rustic fishing village of poptla.
As you pass Fox Studios turn onto the narrow dirt road marked by the white arches. You will pass many vendors selling Tamales, Elote, CoCo Frios, and much more.
Once you park you can check out the action on the beach or dine in one of the modest restaurants overlooking the pacific. . I decided to go with the pescado zarendeado. I picked my “just caught” fish (Red Snapper) and watched as it was prepared. It does not get much better then eating Pescado Zarendeado, sipping on an ice cold drink, listing to some live Music of Veracruz, and watching the sun gleam off the pacific.
Unlike Puerto Nuevo, Popotla offers much more local catch then just lobster and at much lower prices. For the adventurous looking for the freshest seafood in a rustic setting look no further. Nothing fancy here just fresh catch!
