Professional Knife Sharpener - in Raleigh

  • 7

Greetings,

I used to have a very trust worthy sharpener over in Durham but he's since retired.

I thought I was going to be ultra-cool and save some money by trying to sharpen my knives on my own. Bought one of those fancy motorized gadgets that did nothing but scratch up the blades.

Yes, it most likely was user error....

At this point, I'm not looking to solve the aesthetic problem - just hoping to salvage the knives.

Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance!

Dawn

  1. If you are willing to drive to Cary, try Beck's in McGregor Village.

      Second that.

    2. Have you called the restaurant supply store in Raleigh? Unted Restaurant Equipment Co., http://www.ureco.com/. If they don't sharpen knives, I bet they know who might. Also, I've hear that Cliff's Meats in Carrboro will too.

      1. It's not Raleigh, but Cliff (in Carrboro) has sharpened my knives over the years, and I've also used The Kitchen Store in University Mall in Chapel Hill. Satisfied with both places for the job.

Kitchenworks in University Mall is where I take mine as well. Very reasonable and fast service-- usually while you wait if the guy who does the sharpening is in.

        2. We live in Raleigh, and on the occasion that primadonnachefboy decides that it's time for a professional sharpening, he goes to Beck's in Cary.

          1. I swear by "the sharpening guy" in South Raleigh. All I have to do is call him and he picks up and delivers all my knives and scissors the next day! I think that is so convienant. I think he also sharpens clipper blades too.
