good place to have a coffee and wait for someone to arrive at Grand Central?
Are there any coffee shops (either a traditional NY coffee shop, or a place just coffee and good pastries, or more of an espresso place) that are within a few blocks of Grand Central (or even inside Grand Central)that would be a good place to meet?
I like the Red Flame on W 44th, but I was wondering if anyone could recommend something else near Grand Central.

If you don't mind sitting at the food court, you can get a great cup of joe at Joe The Art of Coffee right at Grand Central.

Good European-style coffee at Caffe Macchiato at 44th Street just about east of Lexington. Note that it is open only on weekdays.

I was just at the Macchiato Espresso Bar, at 141 E 44th St, on Thursday, and there was a sign saying that they are now open Saturdays 9AM to 2PM. Unfortunately, at 2PM, there was not a single seat available, nor even space at one of the 2 raised tables they have for standing patrons. But I love their lattes, so I'll keep trying.
