They are currently reconstructing the inside - though the outside is already painted characteristic red and white and the signs are up.

Its on Jefferson between Overland and Winchester.

Wow I cent believe it ! That's awesome,I frequent Temecula for business. I hope they are affiliated with the TJ Faction. Their is a tacos el gordo in pacific beach not affliated with the real deal and it is horrendous. The signature red and white signs is a good indication this one may be the real deal.

Thanks KR

So I actually had my best experience yet at El Gordo [#3 Ciudad Nacional] yesterday. Post El Agave Tequila and Mezcal tasting with a friend we went here to soak up [I had the intention of asking about the Temecula location].

I had the al pastor, tripa, and suadero. The suadero was very weak - it tasted just like stew meat. But damn, they finally put their taquero A game on for the al pastor and tripa!

> Pastor - crispy, just greasy enough, and thank dios not drenched in the green sauce but pleasantly complimenting.

>Tripa - finally chicharronesque like i like it! Roasty, gamey, great nutty salsa.

So I asked 2 workers there about Temec - one told me that they are opening as soon as the permit goes thru - 22 November approx. The other pastor taquero - who is deeply cool and funny told me he is even moving there to work there. He even motioned the masa maiden over - who I assume is his girlfriend - and said shes going too! I told him the gabachos are going to go crazy for her tortillas and chile gueros up there!

Tip your Taquero!

Checked it out today K.R looks very close to completion. Whats crazy is they have a drive through this will be a first for Tacos El Gordo. This is a perfect location not far off the freeway and the closest competition is Del Taco ha ha. I wonder if their cuts will vary perhaps they will have Ojo like the Tijuana faction.

Today was OPENING DAY!

I saw the al pastor taquero from National city and he remembered me and my nom-de-guerre: "guero" :^)

Happy to report - from the 4 tacos this place is LEGITIMATE and up to par with the South Bay ops.

Same wonderful salsa on the tripitas and suadero. In fact, Ive decided this is my favorite salsa of SD.

Al Pastor is $$$$$! Thinly crisp and spicy al pastor swaths nestled with its yang counterpoint of smooth cooling rich green sauce atop of the supple sweated maizey tortillas.

Check it out if you are in the area or passing through - There is hope for TEMEC!

Horario:
10am-12am Sun-Thur
10am-4am Fri-Sat

Provecho!

I've been driving by expecting the sign to be lit as an indication that they're open. Last night on the way home from the Chargers game I saw it wasn't on yet, so I'm thinking they're not open yet. Glad you set it straight KR. May have to stop there on the way home tonight...

So i finally whent to tacos el gordo in temecula, tacos were pretty good. A few issues with the set up and the price of the tacos. The tortillas for the tacos are the small ones. They make their own tortillas there and they are good. The asada tacos only get one tortilla for $1.85. I think they are a little to expensive. I have had tacos from other places with 2 tortillas and they pack their meat. The other tacos get 2 tortillas but they dont put enough meat on them. All of their tacos are $1.85. Also, they dont have a variety of salsas which it is kinda of upsetting. Every mexican restaurant should have at least 3 different types of salsas. They dont have a salsa bar they just have radishes and limes. To the point good tacos but not worth the price.
