Tama Sushi - Closed?

Anyone know if Tama is closed? - I'm getting a disconnected message when I call.

wow, this is a bummer. i went there for the first (and only) time a couple of months ago and thought the sashimi was beyond excellent. i'd been looking forward to returning. i went on a friday night and the place was near empty.

I walked by this morning and all the windows were covered and construction workers were walking around. Looks like they are remodeling.

I'm very disappointed to hear about the demise of Tama.

My go to order there for the past year had been their chirashi combo - 12 pcs. of generously sized cuts of great quality fish for only 20 bucks.

Can anyone point me in the direction of a comparable chirashi deal in the Valley?

In the meantime, I guess I'll have to make a trek over the hill and give Katsu in BH a try. I"m definitely gonna miss the Tama chirashi and their mushroom miso soup.....

No surprise it's closed, the place has really gone downhill during my last two visits.

Very apparent of QC issues without the boss being around.

Sad to hear......this was my "go to" place in the Valley for good, reasonably priced sushi, nice atmosphere, good service, never too crowded. It will be sorely missed.

From what I've read, Tama has been sold to the Katsuya chain. Perhaps it is closed for remodeling.

Tama's original owner is now at Katsu, in Beverly HIlls.

The place has been sold, yet not to the Katsuya chain in the 323/310 area code. Katsuya Uechi himself bought the place. He owns the Valley locations, yet lends name, expertise, etc. to SBE which operates the locations outside the Valley.
The place will be an Izakaya, similar to his place at 8420 W. Third Street, just east of La Cienega in the former G. Garvin space.
Definitely under remodel. Last day for Tama was October 25.
