When I was a kid, Baskin Robbins had Black Licorice Ice Cream. It was slate gray in color and was so delicious! Anyone???

Yes Fosselman's makes Black Licorice and Pumpkin flavors for Halloween. Don't delay.

Thank you kevin & Professor Salt. (thank you xoxohh as well but it was clearly black licorice.) I checked Fosselman's site and saw that it is a seasonal flavor. I called and learned that it is a flavor for October and today is pretty much the last day. I guess I had better get moving! Thanks once again to all who responded...

Are you sure you are not thinking of Mandarin Chocolate Sherbet? I had this as a kid and it reminded me of Licorice.

Fosselman's is great, I agree, with a deep black color. Dr. Bob's also has it from time to time in their shop.

Too funny - don't usually reply to things lie this but I'm sitting here eating a Big Hunk candy bar from my Easter Basket and also looking up retro candy.... I was talking about the Licorice Ice cream from 31 Flavors as a kid... LOVED IT. Wish I could find it. Oh well - fun to think back huh?

Hans' Homemade Ice Cream, in Santa Ana (on Bristol, maybe 1/2 mile north of the 405)

It's delicious, esp. with a scoop of Vanilla alongside, to contrast it.

I do remeber and have NEVER forgotten how AMAZING it was. I was 6 yrs old and my parents were trying to decide which one of them was going to have to eat it. Instead my mom had to walk me through the department store making sure that I didn't touch anything on the way to the bathroom because I was wearing what I wasn't able to eat!
