Thank you kevin & Professor Salt. (thank you xoxohh as well but it was clearly black licorice.) I checked Fosselman's site and saw that it is a seasonal flavor. I called and learned that it is a flavor for October and today is pretty much the last day. I guess I had better get moving! Thanks once again to all who responded...

Fosselman's is great, I agree, with a deep black color. Dr. Bob's also has it from time to time in their shop.

Too funny - don't usually reply to things lie this but I'm sitting here eating a Big Hunk candy bar from my Easter Basket and also looking up retro candy.... I was talking about the Licorice Ice cream from 31 Flavors as a kid... LOVED IT. Wish I could find it. Oh well - fun to think back huh?

Hans' Homemade Ice Cream, in Santa Ana (on Bristol, maybe 1/2 mile north of the 405)

It's delicious, esp. with a scoop of Vanilla alongside, to contrast it.
