Sushi Lunch on Saturday

rnp0123 Oct 30, 2008 10:39 PM

Have a friend from New Orleans coming to visit this weekend. I would like to take him somewhere for sushi for lunch on Saturday. Need to stay on the Westside. Any suggestions?

Not open for lunch on Saturday.

If your friend is still in town on Tuesday, go for sushi on a Tuesday, not a Saturday.

Hide is low-ball sushi, but good (most times).

Try the conveyor belt sushi at Daichan Kaiten Sushi at the Olympic Collection (2nd floor, corner of Olympic & Sawtelle).

Thanks, but need a place today - in about 1 hour!

Ended up going to Tengu in Santa Monica. Ordered omakasa for $40. Got 7 pieces of so-so sushi on a plate - nothing else. Very disappointed.

Don't know what time you went but, depending on the crowd, Hide would undoubtedly have been a much, much better choice.

Saturday lunchtimes were not meant for sushi in L.A., IMHO.
