Upscale authentic Chinese Restaurants in Dallas/Irving area

Help - I have a Chinese delegation coming to town mid-November and they have requested to eat one night at an authentic Chinese Restaurant. I don't want to take them to a dive even though the food might be excellent.......any suggestions? I just had dinner at May Dragon and the food was just mediocre. Appreciate all suggestions. Thanks.

Agree with Lewisville that food at Little Sichuan is very good. However, your delegation is coming from China on a business trip, I don't think the casual atmosphere (equivalent to your everyday lunch stop in China) is going to leave the right impression. In China, group dining like this is most often done in the private rooms of a large banquet restaurant, which Kirin Court offers. I would suggest to call ahead of time and reserve a table at one of the private rooms rather than eating in the loud main dining room. Maxim's also has these private rooms but the atmosphere isn't quite as nice.

There are two different request and most often don't go together. There are no good authentic Chinese restaurants in Dallas or even Irving. All reside in Richardson or Plano.

You have a request for upscale ethnic which is going to look pretty but the food isn't going to be pretty. Yoa Fuzi is probably the nicest looking and closest to authentic in that category.

The other is the food...authentic Chinese. Kirin Court is a very good choice but I would also throw in Little Sichuan in Plano. Although not very pretty and not a dive by any means they have great food. Some of the items on the specials board written in Chinese (not sure if it is Mandarin) are grown in the owners garden. Also the dishes can be altered to meet your guests spice level or taste preferences. I would call ahead, visit (eat there and not the Americanized dishes) before they come, and plan with the manager/owner about some of the dishes they offer and send your guests a heads up and a copy of the menu. You might also ask were most of the delegation hails from....we have several different styles here in Dallas.

Kirin Court is a very good choice. However, Caravelle would be my first choice for your group.
I think it would suit them very well.

Kirin Court? It's not exactly upscale, but it's definitely not divey.

yea but it's not authentic (more fusion-y) so they might not like it. Honestly I don't know of any upscale authentic places in Richardson/Plano, maybe there's some place south I don't know of but May Dragon is the only place I would have thought of. Almost everything is gonna be in a strip mall.

Yao Fuzi has two menu's. One of them is 100% authentic, written in both Chinese and English. The chef is the former chef of the Shanghai Hilton. I think that this would be a great choice.
