For fine dining, try Bluestem in Westport. One of the best restaurants in Missouri and the midwest.

          Belton, I think you mean.

Since you have several days, the better restaurants in the urban core shouldn't be a problem, assuming you have a car at your disposal (seriously, make sure you have a car). But you should also consider restaurants in Leawood, which is a tony suburb just northwest of Belton. Fine dining can certainly be found in Leawood, but I'll leave Leawood to those who are down that way. Further in to town, I'd second Bluestem. Le Fou Frog, a very cute and very tasty bistro, is probably a little easier to get to from Belton. Are you looking for fancy-fancy or foodie comfortable fine dining?

You are very close to the original outlet of Fiorella's Jack Stack BBQ, which is one of the heavy hitters in KC. Their branch in Martin City (at 13441 Holmes Rd) is right around the corner. Don't be surprised if they are catering the wedding ;) Other BBQ options that I would recommend are up Highway 71 a ways. Arthur Bryant at 1727 Brooklyn Ave is the Holy of Holies. Not going there is like not going to the Eiffel Tower when you go to Paris. Sure, it's may be overrated, but are you really going to not go? For the record, I don't think it's overrated, just -- maybe -- a little inconsistent.

I would also recommend asking your friends in Belton. Everyone in KC has a opinion about BBQ, and they all have their favorite local joints. And there are a LOT of local joints. Unless they are recent transplants, if they have friends coming in from out of town for a wedding, they should be ready with an answer about where to get BBQ.

Brunch is also something that I would ask a local about. Especially because brunch usually involves getting up on a weekend and a long-drive is usually not in order.

Lidia's is upscale Itailian with great atmosphere and has a Sat/Sun. brunch. http://www.lidias-kc.com/#
