Brookfield-Danbury CT along rte 7 for Lunch saturday

Going out this way saturday starting out at Peter's Imports, then Stew Leonards and then heading over to Home Goods in Danbury. Any places for lunch on my route? Thanks!

I checked out Scargod's list and can definitively say that Jaipore in Brewster NY is THE best Indian in the area. It's worth driving for. If you're short on time, though, India Kitchen in Brookfield is good.

Also I'd recommend Bailey's Backyard in Brookfield... American. Expensive but amazing.

If you really really feel like coming way north up 7, then Cookhouse does have good BBQ and River Cafe even further up is great Spanish (as is Spain, not Mexican) food. (Paella=wow)

      Hi Chante,

Is Jaipore better than Kolam? I really really like Kolam, but am always happy to find another yummy spot!

        Hey Bratle,

I like Kolam too and my parents swear by it, but I have to say Jaipore really stood out as the best to me. Make the drive once and I bet you'll be back. :)

          A little digging and this:
          Kolam
          316 South Main Street
          Newtown, CT 06470
kolamrestaurant.com‎ The music on the website is great!
I'd really like to know if this is a good place. Not that far a drive for us...

Scargod, my folks are only a couple of miles from Kolam on the weekends, and occasionally either go there or do take out, usually when my sister and I are visiting. Doing take out, don't order too much -- big servings! In house, they do a small but nice buffet. They also do a number of southern Indian dishes, which I love. Considering how close it is to the house, Kolam is a blessing for those who want the occasional change in food. I hope you will like them. It is not fancy but tasty.

But yes too I will be heading to Brewster at some point when I am driving down to NYC.

When I first came to Brewster, from Texas, I did not know of Chowhound or Jaipore. As a true Chowhound, fancy is not the most important factor. Tell me the dishes you love.....

I used to live in New Milford a few years back. I did a little digging and came up with some which I amended my map with. I can't vouch for too many but most all came from Chowhound. I remembert the food at the Cookhouse as good (supposed to be good Q).
