Bluestone Bistro review:Really Bad Experience

Wow, this is probably one of the worst restaurant experiences I've had in a long time.
Galfriend and I decided to try this place for dinner because she mentioned the food was pretty good when she was there several years ago... my how things have changed.
To begin the night, our waiter was forceful in tone and manner. When we declined
the wine list special because we told him we were both drivng, he almost seemed offended and gestured as if to say "SORRY!" in a sarcastic tone.
His description of the Roasted Pumpkin ravioli (appetizer) was very misleading. He mentioned that it was one piece but was large in size... however when it arrived, it was the circumference of an elastic rubber band. At $9, it was ridiculous to see 1 measly piece before me (the food cost for this item just did not correlate with the portion size, that and they're not well-known enough to command a higher price point.. I know because I work in the industry)
My girlfriend chose the butternut squash soup "infused" with maple syrup (also $9 but generously portioned here)... However, It was much too sweet and it was more reminiscent of baby food than anything.
When I informed the waiter about the portion size, he started to argue back. When I tried to reason with him, he just ignored me and then said 'I'm here to please you'. Which was obviously not the case. The situation was getting more uncomfortable by the minute, so my girlfriend asked the manager for another waiter.
To remedy my ravioli situation, they took it off the bill and asked if I wanted to order something else. I opted to try the "Panko crusted Spicy Lamb Meatballs with Mango Mint Dipping sauce". When it arrived I thought "Oh man, are you kidding me?!" It was deep fried and greasy; you wouldn't have known that it was 'panko crusted' unless you were told. The interior was dry and tasted like Styrofoam. This was turning into a nightmare. When our new waitress asked how it was, I couldn't lie, so I told her it was quite dry. She even agreed and admitted that other customers complained about the same thing! At that point I thought, if there were complaints prior to our visit, why hadn't changes been made?
So the meatballs were also taken off the bill. If you asked me why we hadn't just left at that point, we actually hoped the mains were going to be better because they sounded so promising on the menu. We both chose the "Lobster Shrimp Gnocchi"- a bluestone 'favourite'. What arrived was something too creamy, and worse-- was creamy blandness. The gnocchi, shaped more like hamster pellets, tasted like chewed up gum.
Our new waitress was very nice and kept apologizing, and even mentioned that she hoped we would return to make up for the bad experience... no offence, but you'd have to drag my dead carcass there first.
If I haven't made it already clear: I highly do NOT recommend this restaurant...
However... I gather (maybe even because of this review) there will be those out there who will try it; I hope your experience will be better than ours was.
-end of rant
I am sorry to hear about your experience there and even more surprised. I am a frequent customer at Bluestone Bistro and I always enjoy my visits there. I am really shocked that the service was horrible considering I have never had any issues where that is concerned. I have always been pleased with the food there as well. I really hope this was just an aberration.
