BYOB restaurants with good food?

Would like to plan a surprise birthday party at one of the reasonable restaurants in Manhattan. Does anyone have recommendations? We are open to all ethnic foods! Thanks, in advance, for your suggestions.

Ivo and Lulu and Kuma Inn are my go to's. Ivo and Lulu is the best for a birthday party with a somewhat large group (first time i went was for a big birthday party and it was awesome). Great French Caribbean food and soo cheap.

While most BYOB places are a bit cramped for a birthday party, Sticky Rice on the LES would be good.

I attended a group dinner at Afghan Kebob House in Hell's Kitchen last night. Food was tasty and it was BYOB.

                Tartine is just OK, imho.
It might not do well for a surprise birthday party that the OP needs because, 1st, it may be too tight/small for any party that's larger than 4 people; and, 2nd, as far as I know the restaurant does not take reservations and surprising somebody who'd be waiitng in line with the rest of the party may be kind of difficult.
