Bastide gets 3 1/2 Stars from Virbila

I'm actually quite surprised. She hasn't doled out this many since Spago (at least in LA, I think she gave Joel Robuchon in LV 4 Stars).

Has anyone been there lately? This reminds me of Bruni reviewing fantastically expensive places despite economic downturn. I know I won't be going anytime soon. No way I'm blowing all that cash (although if I had it, you know I would).

By the way, how do you pronounce Bastide? (I'm assuming like salt cod brandide and Candide, Voltaire's work, it's like Bas-TAHD, but it's probably most often pronounced bas-TEED).

    Food forgettable.
    FOH stiff & absolutely obnoxious, all waiters pretending they speak French, very annoying.
    Sorry, no macaroons as far as Yours Truly is concerned.

    1. the salt cod is brandade, not brandide, so it's brahn-dahd. Baside, like Candide, is Bas-teed and Can-deed.

      2. Virbila's picks have been inconsistent with my experiences. But hey, that's part of what makes the world go round.

        Bastide is pronounced bas-TEED.

          Is it true that, Pytka is pronounced bas- TARD?
