Asbury Park/Ocean Grove Sat. Night

A group of friends will be convening for a concert in AP November 1, and would like a place to meet either pre or post show. Drinks are a definite, food is a plus. I made a few suggestions (Market in the Middle, Bistro Olé), but if you have any faves you'd like to share, please let me know. And thanks in advance!

    Bistro Ole is BYO.

If you are looking for a place with a bar ther are none in Ocean Grove and here is the Asbury short list:

      -Carmines
      - The Harrison
      - Matison Park
      - Market in the Middle
      - Moonstruck
      - Brick Wall

Although we really like both the food and drinks at Market, the bar is not very big. If your group is more that 4 or so, the bar at the Brickwall is much larger. Food is not too bad either - casual, comfort food menu. (If I recall correctly, a giant plate of tater tots was $3 - good, post-drink fare!)

While I agree the bar at Brickwall is larger and offers a true bar crowd and feel (big screen tv's and all), the drinks and food don't compare to Market. While the Market bar is small, it is a true cocktail bar where they use proper liquors and mixers.

I wholeheartedly agree, bgut. My thought was that Market, especially at dinner time, can be a tough place to comfortably meet friends.

MGZ - I agree completely about the dinner crowds especially on a Saturday Night.

I'm being forced into group dinner at The Harrison this Sat night... can anyone out there make me feel better about it? Not my first, second or third choice if I have to do dinner in AP....

Highly recommend Seagrass in Ocean Grove at 68 Main Street (formerly known as Captain Jacks). A contemporary American BYOB with an emphasis on seafood. Wife and I have been there many times (just last week), and the food and service is always outstanding. Prices are reasonable. And they take reservations in the off season.
