Someplace good between MCO and Kissimmee?

  • 3

Arriving tomorrow and heading to the Obama rally in Kissimmee. Wondering if there's anyplace good to eat on the way - or with a bit of a detour. Looking for healthy-ish. Italian, Thai or Vietnamese would be good. Thanks.

  1. We were passing through Orlando a week ago and had a great meal at Pho 88 (http://www.pho88orlando.com/).

There's a thriving Vietnamese community in this area with lots to choose from in the way of restaurants. See here (http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/3114...) and here http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/5336...

It was tommyvee's recommendation that sent us off the turnpike in search of Pho 88 and a really good bowl of Pho.

The Vietnamese area really isn't between the airport and Kissimmee. You might try Seasons 52 on Sand Lake Road, a classy bistro with purposely healthful creative-American food. Nearby on Turkey Lake Road is a very good Vietnamese restaurant called Rice Paper. Or, in Hunter's Creek itself--closer to Kissimmee, and more on your way, Padrino's is a Cuban restaurant--but not greasy Cuban. It's upscale and very good and has several healthful dishes. You could also eat in Celebration, which is on the northern tip of Kissimmee. Cafe d'Antonio there has good casual Italian food at reasonable prices.

    2. There is Hunter's Creek Area (South Orlando Near Kissimmee) Padrino's as mentioned is good. Mikado Sushi is wonderfully fresh. The Loop has chains such as BJ Brewhouse, also BonefishGrille and a Pei Wei both which I have not tried. There is also an Azteca's Mexican Restaurant on OBT.
