Affordable restaurant near LA Music Center?

We will be going to a performance at the music center this weekend and would like to eat in a reasonably affordable restaurant within 30 mins. of the music center. Due to the downturn in the economy, we must economize and therefore would like to spend no more than ~$50-60 pp out the door. Is there anything downtown or in Silver Lake that fills the bill? We would prefer American, French or Italian cuisine.

  1. Caffe Capris
    2547 Hyperion Ave
    SilverLake, CA 90027
    (323) 644-1918

It's a great Italian place, no corkage fee so you can bring your own wine. The food was great and service is very friendly. Generous pasta and great beet salad. Highly recommended. Under $ 25/pp

    1. You could go very oldschool with Taix, not too far away on Sunset with easy parking in their lot. Their nightly specials are $16.95 for dinner and most of their entrees are well under $20, excluding steaks, with salads or soups discounted when purchased with an entree.

Colori Kitchen has gotten some enthusiastic reviews on this board for good and inexpensive Italian, and is relatively new on the, let's put it charitably, regentrified section of downtown.

The Redwood Bar and Grill on Second Street is nearby, and I believe it has recently undergone a bit of an update and renovation with pretty good reviews. It now describes itself as a gastropub, with simple fare like burgers, sandwiches, and potpies in the very low teens and a few more upscale choices a bit more. The issue would be where to park and at what price -- if you had the time and were wearing comfortable shoes it would be walkable.

      1. Colori Kitchen for Italian.
Church and State for French bistro.
Bacaro wine bar, but please make a reservation, it is tiny.
