Italian Dinner in San Francisco, Ristorante Milano or Ideale?

I'm considering either Ristorante Milano or Ristorante Ideale for my wife and myself on our next visit to San Francisco. Both restaurants sound appealing, are casual, reasonably priced, with nice menus. Looking for a salad and fresh pasta, or possibly splitting a pasta dish to start with a couple of nice entree's.

Any preferences between the two restaurants? Do you have any favorite dishes you might recommend at either place? Thanks in advance for your help and advice.

you won't go wrong with either.
ideale gets my nod because i avoid prime dining times and ask the house to plan my meal.
ideale is comfortable shoes.

I vote for Milano, good service. One of my favorites was the butternut squash ravioli.

I go to both places, but I prefer Milano. I like the size of the place, the service and the food. Ideale is a little stilted. The gnocchi at Milano are outta sight. Light and fluffy AND from potato. I don't know how they do it. Salads and soups are excellent, too.
