BYOB Birthday Options

I was looking for a place to celebrate my birthday with a couple of friends. I don't want to go anywhere fancy given that I will be going to Schwa with my wife two days before. I'm thinking of going somewhere relatively cheap, casual, and fun for a small group of us to have a couple drinks at. I was tossing around the idea of going to TAC since it is fairly close to where I live and I've been meaning to go there for a while. Another place I've been meaning to check out is Terragusta on Addison. I also like Korean food and have heard of a couple good places near Argyle street.

Since I was hoping to make it more of a drinking related dinner, I liked the idea of BYOB but I would be open to going somewhere that isn't BYOB if it is conducive to drinking. One though I had was Hop Leaf, what do you guys think?

  1. They all sound like good ideas for what you're looking for.

    1. The Hopleaf is one of my faves. But it can get on the pricey side with the beers. Some of the finer beers are on the expensive side. Not that is a bad thing but you had mentioned cheap and drinking related dinner. Just keep it in mind if you go. Also, the bar area can get really crowded depending on the day. You may have to call in a reservation for the back dining area.

Cara Mio on Wilson and Wolcott is excellent BYOB Italian

Tango Sur BYOB Argentian - again, gets crowded.

      1. Can anybody tell me how long of a wait we should expect at hop leaf to get a table for 6-8 people on a saturday night?

          Call in a reservation.

Depending on the time, I'd expect at least 30 - 1hr
