Five Nights in NYC

edrucker Oct 28, 2008 10:44 AM

A very ex New Yorker is visiting for 5 nights (including XMAS night), staying at 79th and Amsterdam. What do you recommend for pizza, Italian, french bistro, other? Good food, but not stuffy – maybe splurge for one meal. I would like to go to Peter Lugar (or??), but my wife is not a big meat eater. Thanks!!

Well, right there at 79th and Amsterdam, you have Nice Matin. They are always open on Christmas, and it is not expensive. The food is great, and there is a good mix of meat and fish dishes. Do let us know your budget and what a splurge means to you. There are so many possibilities you need to narrow things down a bit.

Are you willing to travel to other neighborhoods?

With regard to your splurge, do you have a particular cuisine in mind? And what is your per person budget for that meal?
