I'm looking for a place up 270 (we are at exit 16) to get different meats than you can find at a local butcher of grocery store. Hare, veal or beef cheeks, offal, etc... Nothing in DC proper please.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

The Amish market in Germantown carries rabbit at the poultry counter. You might also be able to call ahead there for any unusual cuts.

If you can go east, you should check out JW Treuth and Sons in Oella. That is between Ellicott City and Catonsville. I found them here on Chowhound on threads like this: http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/531226. They butcher their own cows, so I think they have all the parts you could want.

Many Latino markets with a meat section would have beef cheeks for barbacoa. That being said, I don't know if the markets in Gaithersburg or Frederick have fresh meat. Lily's in Columbia does and certainly Treuth & Sons in Oella has every part of the cow, but that's sort of out of your way.
