Holiday Cocktails for 60 - Sleek, laidback venue..

Design firm trying to pinpoint a venue in Manhattan (no more north than Midtown) to host 60 guests in December. Looking for heavy hors d'oeuvres & an open bar with top shelf liquor. We're a really laidback group that obviously enjoys a well-designed space, would love somewhere with either a private room that's not too uppity or a smaller venue that could be rented out for the evening.

We've done everything from top floor lounge overlooking the city with with hired caterers to renting out a corner bar in the EV.

Thoughts, recommendations, or a general starting point..?

I recommend you check out Sterling Affair, www.sterlingaffair.com, ask for Ari Starkman. They are an exclusively off-premise caterer, have the best catered food I've ever had, and the service is impeccable (I've been to several events of theirs, from huge to small, and they are always great). They cater in some really nice, interestingly-designed spaces, too.
