Disappointed with Absolutely Fabulous

We had plans for dinner at AF on Friday night. I went there on Friday afternoon at 3:45 and made a reservation in person for 8:45PM for 4 people. Arrived at the designated time to find the place packed (not unusual). A party of 4 had just been seated as I was walking in the door to tell them we were all here for our reservation. I looked around and there seemed to be no available 4 top. I said we were here for our reservation and got a look of - oops. We were told we would have to wait "awhile". Upon further inquiry, it seemed that of the 3 four tops available the only one that was close to leaving had not been served their entrees. The other two tables had just sat down. This was going to be a long wait. We left and went to Turners. Extremely disappointed that this great little place is over booking to this degree.

Wonder what is up- I know the woman who owns the breakfast place the AB takes over on the weekends is going to start a new endeavor- but not sure if it involeves the breakfast place. The owner ( of the breakfast place)recently gave up her position non the school committee and did not specify what the new endeavor was.

that stinks! And really stupid to do at a small place where there is no room to wait. Will have to try the oyster bar at Turners- I do buy some of my fish there ( and at Fishermans Fleet in Malden, and Lobster Claw in N Reading), but somehow, I never enjoyed eating on the restaurant side- always felt cramped. But- have not eaten there since they added the raw bar.

Love the oyster bar. When we had our kitchen remodel it was our home away from home.
