Very Picky Father Visiting

On Thursday my dad is coming into town, and I need to take him out to dinner!

He is extremely picky, but not as far as food...he requires the following:
I need somewhere a not too long walk from 15th and 8th ave...10-15 minutes is fine, but transportation should not be necessary.
I need somewhere I can make a reservation, or where I can guarantee there will be no wait.
I need somewhere that will not break the bank...possibly average entree around $25, or less

I was thinking something along the lines of Tavern On Jane, but I am not a meat eater (fish is ok) so that makes it a hard choice.

Any kind of food is fine, clearly I would prefer somewhere worth eating (not looking for any old diner).

Please let me know if you have anything you can think of! Thanks!

  1. Suenos for high end Mexican food in a fun, unexpected setting. Vento in Meatpacking District for Italian, Cafe Cluny in West Village for Bistro French, Little Owl for refined American..

    1. Crispo on 14th street would be perfect. They take reservations, and the food is both moderately priced and, IMHO, quite tasty.

      1. I second prdct's recommendation of Crispo. It is really a wonderful little restaurant, and highly under-rated. Great branzino main course for you, great starters, great ambiance and cozy garden (covered) in the back.

        1. Gascogne, the charming French bistro with delicious food, is on 8th, b/t 17th & 18th. They accept reservations.

Second Gascogne and would also suggest Le Zie for solid Italian in the area.
