Town of Sonoma Dinners - - Itinerary help, please

Hi,

Thanks so much to all the contributors here. You've really helped me plan my trip.

My husband and I will be staying in the Sonoma Valley for four nights, Wednesday until Sunday morning. On Thursday, we have reservations at Ad Hoc. On Saturday, we have reservations at Ubuntu.

To minimize driving, we'd like to stay closer to our rental cottage on Wednesday and Friday nights. We'll be staying in the western foothills, about 4 miles from the Sonoma Plaza. So, restaurants in the town of Sonoma would be ideal.

I'd greatly appreciate if you could recommend restaurants for those two nights.

We're looking for the best food, but would prefer to keep it under $30/entree. Dinners don't need to be fancy, just good. Further, we'd probably prefer to avoid Italian, as our visit to San Francisco will include Incanto and we eat plenty of Italian in Chicago. We also have reservations at Canteen, NOPA, and Cyrus.

So, given these caveats, where should we be eating for those two dinners in the town of Sonoma?

Many thanks in advance!!

    How about Portuguese?
    La Salette

Portuguese would be great, thanks! Wonderful suggestion and something I don't get to enjoy very often.

Personally, my favorite in Sonoma proper is El Dorado Kitchen, but my last meal wasn't up to my expectations. The fall menu looks good, though, and it fits in with the other places on your list.

My second pick would be The Girl and the Fig/The Fig Cafe, depending on where you're staying. The Girl and the Fig is on the plaza, which the Fig Cafe is a bit to the northwest in Glen Ellen. Very similar Cal-French menus, but Fig Cafe is a little more casual, no reservations, free corkage. I like them both, and they have some lighter and less expensive options if you're growing tired of the heavy meals. The Girl and the Fig also has a full bar and a nice cheese selection.

In addition to La Salette, I like Cafe La Haye -
and, for a quick lunch - Tortilleria Jalisco

The burger at A Girl and A Fig is definitely worth a visit. Yummy!
