I've recently seem pomegranates at the Manhattan Fruit Exchange in Chelsea Market for $1.50.

I just got a nice one yesterday at the fruit stand at 57th and 1st, SW corner. $1 each.

Not sure they were cheap, but on sale at Whole Foods Union Square as of last night.

Their is a wholesale fruit/veggie place on 52nd between 8th and 9th that has pomegranates. I haven't tried them, so I don't know what the quality is, but this place is always cheap so it is worth buying one for a taste.

Not really cheap but probably one of cheapest in the city - Chinatown (one for $2). They'll probably give a better price if you buy bulk.
