Mantis Shrimp Siting...

Was in the Chinatown Supermarket that has once entrance on Washington and the main entrance across from Pot Luck and I saw some really funky shrimp swimming around their tank.

Upon closer examination they had really fat tails and I think sort of mantis like arms. I am guessing they were mantis shrimp. Saw a guy buy a big flopping around bag.

$14.99 a pound.

Certainly peeked my curiousity.

That's the smaller C-mart. I saw those as well...they were only 4-5"

Tastes like lobster and crab? Sounds like something interesting to try... :-)

If these are "pissing shrimp" then watch your fingers when you handle them, and spear them before putting them in the fry pan.

they've been there on and off for a few weeks now.
i got some the other day and did them live-into-the-wok with black bean sauce.
quite a treat.

Do they taste noticeably different then regular shrimp?

the taste of sweet lobster with the texture of crab.
