Cuisinart ice cream maker problem

I have a Cuisinart ice cream maker. The ice cream and sorbet from my last couple of batches have been freezing and sticking to the side of my freezer bowl before the 25 mins of churning are up. It leaves a layer stuck to the side of my bowl when I scoop out my ice cream or sorbet. How do I fix this? Is there something wrong with my freezer bowl? Help!

Thanks for the tips everyone. I have been storing my freezer bowl towards the back of the freezer lately so that might be a cause. I'll move it towards the front and see if that might help.

I'll check the blade the next time I make a batch and make sure it's in the right spot. I also read on the web that the machine should be turned on first before pouring the liquid in so I'll have to remember that. I think I did that in the beginning but now that I'm comfortable with the process, I've just been dumping the liquid in, inserting the blade, turning it on, walking away and then expecting perfection!

ah ha! it could be the insertion of the blade after putting in the liquid as well. this could create a layer underneath the blade that prevents the blade from going as far down as it normally would and thereby not letting it get scraped or moved. i suspect you can insert the blade, pour liquid and then turn on and it would be fine as well.

i was fidgeting with a new ice cream maker a couple days ago and i noticed this happening. i will concur with the colder temps idea but also noticed that i didn't put the blade in properly and it was a few millimeters away from the sides than it should have been. this caused a hard layer to form on the edges and i noticed the liquid wasn't churning in a rolling fashion the way i expected (ie. not enough underneath the custard).

is your blade all the way to the edges? otherwise perhaps your machine is now in super mode and you just need less time ;)

Nothing wrong with the bowl. Sounds like your freezer is just really cold, and that's a good thing. The faster the ice cream freezes, the smoother it will be. Just stop churning after 20 minutes or so. On many models you can hear the motor start to strain a little when the ice cream is ready.

There will always be a frozen layer on the bowl. That's the cook's portion.

I have that problem too. I took a can of sweet corn (pureed) and half of that got stuck too the sides.
So it's a no go for small portions i guess.
