Fall 2009 wedding venue
I'm looking for a venue for my Fall 2009 wedding. Not sure if anywhere will still have availability at this point, but I love the look of places like Monteverde, but I think it might be a bit too far. I'm looking for great food in a rustic, farm-like setting. Anyone have any ideas?

I just joined this site as I was searching for reviews of Monteverde as a wedding venue, as well. Researching, I found they recently lost their chef (Ferguson?) and wondering if anyone knew anything about the food/wedding biz there these days? we're also hoping for a fall wedding there! or another barn/destination wedding, hopefully in the hudson valley...
any thoughts would be much appreciated! I also hear that Belvedere Mansion is a nightmare, though we looked at that...Also, looked at Troutbeck..beautiful setting, know nothing of the food, but the rooms were pretty tacky... -
I got married at the Vanderbilt Mansion in Centerport on Long Island. Great place and not typical LI.

My sons class went on a field trip last year to the Queens County Farm Museum. i don't know how rustic it is, you can use their caterer or bring in your own. Certainly close to Manhattan.

Great food in a rustic, farm-like setting = Blue Hill at Stone Barns. It's in Pocantico Hills, so it would be closer than Monteverde.

A friend of ours had a wedding near Hudson, NY on an apple orchard/farm. It was actually in a barn and was pretty cool. I don't know the name, but you could probably just google it.

That sounds like Apple Barn Farm in Livingston, New York, right outside Hudson... here's their link...
