Deep-Fried Turkey

Does anyone know of a restaurant that offers it? Been dying to try it.

Popeyes doesn't do deep fried trukeys but they do do cajun spiced turkeys.

Which were deep fried in the past, so I would assume they still deep fry them

my understanding is the turkeys are deep fried then packaged. the turkey is reheated at home. they are advertised as fried turkey.

That's exactly what they do, but they are still deep fried, just not freshly out the pot.
Back home a lot of places sold deep fried turkeys, while they might not have been packaged (like popeye's), you may have gotten one that was deep fried the day before and then put in one of those aluminum trays and covered with foil and put in the fridge overnight. I was always lucky enough to know the owner and stop by Thanksgiving morning and pick it up shortly after it came out the oil so i didn't have to reheat.
Popeye's doesn't have the capabilities to fry them on site so they probably do it in some central location and ship out. If they didn't do that they would not sell a lot of them.
I would sometimes call my friend to see if anyone didn't pick up a turkey that was ordered just to use it for gumbo, nothing makes better turkey gumbo than a fried turkey.

Oh yes indeed, this IS the place. Very much enjoyed their basic 'Jive' bird and their 'Fresh Herb' fried turkeys as much as a couple of the other more creative options we chose before consecutive holidays(until this year).

CT should be so lucky to have them here for everyone to try. As amusing as it would be to post the link for the "Jive Turkey" scene from 'Semi-Pro'...rules are rules. Instead, don't be a dumb cluck and let this happen to you:

Did you have the bird shipped? I am drawn to the fact they have so many variations. It would be more in the cards for me to try to stop in the restaurant if in the area. Though the video was priceless!

I lucked out Ms. katty because I didn't need to get them shipped or have to go there to pick-up(which I understand gets quite crazy around the holidays).

Have a friend from down south that comes back to his native NY to visit his family before he arrives in CT to see other friends and family members. So I was able to enjoy "pre-holiday" Thanksgiving meals of these birds with him in consecutive years as he so kindly brought them along. I suppose that makes them taste even better huh?!?

I really enjoyed them but haven't had the opportunity to try other's efforts to compare to so I'm all ears and open to options...particularly here in the Unconstitutional State. :)

I can't help you with a restaurant, but if there is a Popeye's Fried Chicken and Biscuits in your area, check with them. They usually have them available in November for the Thanksgiving Holiday. Last year for a 12 pound bird the cost was about $25 from the one located in Teaneck, NJ. No fuss no muss.....just great turkey.
