Yuta, the generally well-liked Japanese place on Ventura in Studio City, appears to have closed. We stopped by on Thursday evening after trying to get into Laurel Tavern, which was chock full of people milling about waiting for tables with an unthinkable noise level. Yuta seemed like a great antidote. Alas, it was dark inside and shut up tighter than a drum, with a sign on the door apologizing for the closure, and a contact phone number.

That location is the kiss of death for restaurants, as others (Carter!) have observed.
