Asian Market between Worcester and Framingham

One of the problems living in the central part of the state is that there are not a lot of decent options for grocery shopping. Our nearest Whole Foods to Worcester is in Framingham, and even our Trader Joes is a bit on the small side.

I am a big fan of Asian noodles, and often find myself traveling all the way to Boston to purchase them (I usually get the Twin Marquis brand in the refrigerated section). But driving 50 miles just to buy a couple of packages of noodles is not something I want to be doing all the time. Does anyone have any good recommendations for an Asian market either around Worcester, or perhaps as far as Framingham? I found one in Westboro, but their selection seems to be very spotty now.

Is the one in Westboro the one on Rt. 9, next the the Cinemas (Westbound side)? I haven't been there in a while, but I recall a pretty big space w/alot of selection overall.

You want the Mekong, on Main South, almost right across from the YMCA. They got it all. Much bigger selection than Ha Tien. Don't be frightened of the neighborhood; it's really not that bad.

On Green St. is Binh An(viet) which has a very good selection of produce and meats as well as groceries and frozen items. There is a market on Main St. that is larger, similar to Super 88, but I can't recall the name. It may be viet or cambodian. 2 or 3 Viet restaurants have closed in the area, that were my go to's for Banh Mi. Does anyone know if the Bamoo Hut is reopening?
In Framingham Asinayo market has mostly Korean/Japanese.

The market on Main St in Worcester is Ha Tien, and it has quite a lot of stuff -- the proprietors are Vietnamese but you'll also find Chinese, Thai, Korean, etc stuff. I highly recommend you give it a try. It's down by Clark University, and everything is very cheap. Great place to get fresh herbs of all sorts. They usually have fresh banh mi sandwiches made up. Mmm.

As for the Bamboo Hut, the former owners told us they sold it to another Vietnamese family that intended to open a restaurant there. Not sure if that's happened. They weren't planning to re-open the Hut since they felt they needed a break after all that work all those years.

Super 88 was supposed to open in Worcester beside the library, but the economy has tanked a little...is there anything on Green street or Main Street? I would check with the people from the Southeast Asian Center in Worcester.

The Super 88 project dies quite a while ago. Apparently there was a lot of problems between the building owner and the chain. Too bad - that would have been a great addition to downtown. Nothing on Green street I know of, and I am not adventurous enough to try any of the stores on Main St.!
