milk thread, numero quatro: does lowfat milk have added milk solids?

and if so, must it be disclosed as a separate ingredient in the ingredients list?

  1. I don't know about other low-fat brands, but Skim Plus has added milk solids and does disclose it on their website.

    1. Many if not most brands of nonfat and lowfat milk have added milk solids that will be disclosed on the label.

      1. Short answer: NO

Longer answer: there is a recent trend in enhanced-taste skim (fat free) milk. Those products, like Skim Plus mentioned above, do contain such things. But this is specific to the flavor enhanced products. It is not typical of lowfat/skim milk overall.

I don't think I've ever tried one of these products. It bumps the calories back up a bit, and I already don't care about the taste. My jug of skim in the fridge has only vitamins A and D added.
