I got the chance to try D Bar Desserts last night, so I thought I would write up a quick review here. In a nutshell, fantastic, and I will definitely be going back!

It's a very small place, and they don't take reservations, so we got there pretty early (around 6:30). We had a group of 6 for girls night out, and there really was only one option of where to sit for us, a large table in the middle of the room that seats up to 8. There are also 4 two-tops and 8-10 bar seats available. By the time we left around 9:30, the place was packed.

Every single one of us raved about our entree. I had the Kobe sliders, which were cooked perfectly, super juicy and delicious. They came with a little cup of perfectly cooked fries. My friends had the pizza salad sandwich, the mac & cheese, the grilled caesar salad, and two had paninis. We all ordered dessert, of course. I had the molten chocolate thingy. The cake part itself was just ok, not the best I've had although very good, but the berries and sauces it was served with were excellent. And there was some sort of caramel crunchy thing on top underneath the ice cream that was phenomenal. I also had a vanilla milkshake, which was very good, although not spectacular. Two friends had the cake and shake, one had milk and cookies, one had a brownie, and one had the apple tasting. The apple tasting looked phenomenal, but she wasn't sharing!

Service was friendly and helpful, although a little on the slow side. There was only the one server for the whole room and she was also running the counter for people walking in to buy desserts out of the case to go, so I think she was doing a pretty good job. We didn't mind since we weren't in that big of a hurry to get home to our kids! Very reasonable prices, too. Our bill before tip was $172 for 6 entrees, 6 desserts, a few take-home desserts, and lots of wine, coffee, and shakes.

We decided that we might have to make girls night out at D Bar a regular occurrence!

I've also loved D-bar. It's very near work for me, so I've been there many times for lunch, or just to buy stuff out of the case. I've been very pleased with the kobe sliders, love the paninis, and the mac and cheese is good too. Prices are excellent for the quality. Desserts are great as well - i've really enjoyed some of the cupcakes, the peanut butter cup, and the cookies. I agree that service needs a bit of work, but other than that, i love the place.

Thanks for the report! I keep remembering, then forgetting, that I've heard about the place. Maybe we should work on a Chowhounds' outing.
