Pumpkin Pie in the City?

runners high Oct 23, 2008 08:39 PM

my out-of-country visiting mom has never tried pumpkin pie before and is dead-set on trying a slice this weekend. I don't want to buy a whole pie from a grocery store, so I am curious if any good restaurants are serving them as a dessert choice around this time of the year? I have seen a lot of pumpkin eclectic variations on the menu which won't cut it in this case -- we need the real deal.

A bakery would be fine too, as long as they're serving pie by slice. We live in the City so a central location would be great.

Thanks! Took her there this afternoon -- the only problem is that mom is now going to think that all pumpkin pies taste this good :-)

        Mission Pie, absolutely.

I know you asked just for pie reccs, but I can't stop thinking about the Mitchell's pumpkin ice cream I had the other night. Look forward to it every year. Your mom might enjoy it.

Good. But in this one flavor, Mitchell's beats out every place in the Bay Area ... high end or low end. My pumpkin ice cream odessy from two years ago. http://chowhound.chow.com/topics/3329...
