Operation: Best Chocolate Chip Pancakes OR Waffles

I want chocolate for breakfast. Where can I get the best chocolate chip pancakes or waffles? Anywhere be it SFV to SGV will do. If they're destination worthy I'll gas up my car!

Whatever gets the most amount of votes or drool worthy description and I'll be there this weekend. I'll report back Monday with a review AND pictures.

Send me on my way. Go!

I'll add Griddle Cafe for anything related to Pancakes period. Just amazing tasty choices, lots of bang for your buck. I've only been there a few times and I love it!!

I agree with the Original Pancake House, and there's one in Orange (in OC) now, too! The choc chip pancakes (and all the other pancakes, too) are excellent!!!

Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll have to really think about where I'm gonna go cause you guys gave such great choices! I'll leave this open during the week in case someone else pops in with a suggestion. Otherwise I'm gonna try and hit up one of the choco-breakfast options one day during the week.

        I'll be back!

          Just one?

Why not undertake a crawl? Hmmmm ... a weekend-long crawl of chocolate breakfasty things. Sounds like a delightful option!

Haha... I'm considering it. Waffles, to pancakes, to french toast!

Another vote for Griddle if you want the most chocolate chips. But you've been there before and you want to try someplace else, Julienne's in San Marino has bittersweet chocolate waffles. I know that's not chocolate chip, but I can tell you that the rest of their food is great and their pastries are excellent. They know how to do sweets. They serve the waffles with a honey vanilla creme fraiche(!) and berries.
I've been meaning to wake up early one day and try these waffles, for years. If you go let me know how they are!

I'd also vote for the griddle cafe, BUT personally I would go for chocolate chip French Toast!!! Why skimp on the decadence and settle fo' waffles ;)
Not that I don't love waffles

          Chocolate bread AND chocolate chips.

Wow... I didn't even think french toast as a chocolate chip possibility!

3 Votes for The Griddle. I have been there once before, I had a chili omelet and the Golden Ticket Pancakes. Bother good... albeit a little TOO pants busting.

                Griddle is my first choice.

Bread and Porridge in Santa Monica

                Quality in WeHo/mid LA

If just chocolate chip pancakes (without other decadent options to tempt your palate), then Coral Tree Cafe actually does great chocolate chip pancakes.

If you're in WeHo, the Abbey actually has nice fluffy ones.

                Also, Literati Cafe in Brentwood

In case it's late night - Swingers

Wowza, a lot to choose from. I suppose I'd give all those votes. Two for Griddle!

If you want to head to the beach cities one day. You need to check out the Original Pancake House in Redondo beach. Be sure to get a hot chocolate with the awesome homemade whiped cream.
