Sat lunch on Long Island

We are flying into Islip this Saturday, and wanted to have lunch, pref seafood, before driving into Roosevelt. I have been looking through various websites, and two places have caught my interest. Any feedback on Fatfish Wine bar and bistro in Bayshore, or Papa Joe's Shrimp and Crab in Port Jefferson? We were hoping to have something with local seafood on the water. Any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks!

    Papa Joes....AWFUL

Check out the Cull House in Sayville. Good seafood, seaside atmosphere and paper plates. Unpretentious.

Fred19- Thanks for the rec. We ended up at Cull house in Sayville. We enjoyed the steamers! We also had the NE chowder - which was ok. Lobster roll which was good, oysters on the half which were excellent blue point, and oysters rockefeller which were very good. Service was very good, atmosphere was exactly what we were looking for.
We ended up getting lunch to go on Sunday by Orient Point ferry. The restaurant, not the deli. Lobster rolls were mostly Krabmeat, the grilled chicken I had added to a salad could have hammered in nails. I know there are lots of great places out that way, but we were pressed for time with a ferry reservation.

        Winedine,
Glad that you enjoyed Cull House. The restaurant at the ferry, Orient By the Sea, also is good. They have award winning clam chowder. Great atmosphere.

We've been to Orient by the Sea in years past and it was OK to good. Last year's visit for a quick casual meal was terrible. And I don't mean "not so good". It was terrible and that rules it out forever

If Fatfish is open for lunch on Saturday, I'd definitely go there. It's one of the few LI restaurants on the water where the food is as good as the view.

I second Fatfish; I've had a few wonderful lunches there in recent months, can't wait to try it for dinner.

I third Fatfish...wish I lived closer. Have been for lunch several times in summer, great view, good food, have not been disappointed.
