mcsorley's, russ & daughter

SF out of towners contemplating wandering around the Village &c on Friday. if we go to Russ & Daughters and (or) McSorley's, what can we expect, sit-down-food-wise? Rather, we've heard about R&D forever (read Trillin religiously): are there tables at R&D? someone posted that McS's food choices run to crackers...anything else? thnx
PS enjoyed Markt very much the other evening--also Cafe Luxembourg. just for the record. and Trestle on Tenth.

There is no seating inside Russ and Daughter's. There is a little park just across the street and to the west half a block over that you can eat your purchases. The only food at McSorley's is the cheese plate which comes with saltines and raw onion. If you choose to go to McSorley's go early. In the evenings it turns into a frat house.

No more liverwurst and onion sandwiches or cheeseburgers at McSorleys?

I'm pretty sure that Cheeseburgers were never served at McSorley's. Maybe you're thinking of another bar?

They have daily specials at McSorleys: liverwurst sandwiches, burger and fries, shepherd pie, chili, in addition to the cheese/cracker plate.

they for sure have cheeseburgers at mcsorley's! but my plan would be go there early before the nyu crowd and then go around the corner to paul's for a really great burger
