La Piazza - Amherst MA
Has anyone eaten there recently? I had dinner there a while ago and it was not very good. A shame since the owners ran Pinocchio's, a good Italian and Monkey Bar/Bistro 63 (or some #) a decent American eclectic place. I heard there was a new chef and I was wondering whether anyone had any experience with it.

Third times a charm? One can only hope. On Valentines Day, my loved ones and I chose to dine at La Piazza in Amherst, MA. I had dined there twice in the past and was quite pleased with at least one thing- the beet salad (this beet salad called me back, regardless of my own reservations).
No high hopes this time, just desiring some Lobster (which was advertised on their website). Upon arriving for our reservations, we were informed that our table was unavailable, (After the interaction with the hostess, the customer service fell off). After a wait we were seated and I ordered the beet salad and the Lobster. A special day calls for a special meal and I was game for some indulgent seafood. Unfortunately twenty minutes later I was informed there was no Lobster. Forced to compromise, I chose a different dish. Flavor was lacking in my dish, along with the rest of
the meals at the table. Tough short ribs supposedly braised for 48 hours? The scallops were gritty and the risotto disgraceful. The meal made me happy that the wine was not made in house!
I suppose its more like three strikes and you're out.
