Pre-Marathon Pasta in DC

Chowhounders,

Looking for some recommendations and reviews from you all regarding pasta places in the DC Area (Arlington, DC, Chevy Chase). I am targeting this Friday as I am running the Marine Corps Marathon on Sunday morning. I've eaten at several of the pasta joints in the DC area but am looking for some new ideas. I ate at Pasta Mia before the Army 10 Miler and ran an amazing personal best, but I am just not keen on standing in line for 2+ hours heading into a 3+ hour race.

Thanks In Advance for the help!

For portions that are large and hearty I would go to Filomena. Classic red Italian, like Pasta Mia but you don't have to wait in line for hours on end (especially if you make a reservation which I recommend). All the pasta is made fresh and they have a large menu to choose from (I personally like the gnocchi and the ravioli).

Plus the place is very festive right now because they have their Halloween decorations up. It might seem a little cheesy but its also fun at the same time.

For something cheaper and way more low key I would suggest Vapianno's in Dupont.

    Good luck with the Marathon.

Lia's in Chevy Chase has a lot of pasta, and might be as filled with marathoners. What I've had there has always been very good.

good luck on sunday - oorah
